Fractional & Interim Digital Marketing Leadership
Senior digital marketing leadership to set priorities and get the work moving.
Bell to Sound provides part-time leadership for agreed website, CRM and campaign work. We work with you to help decide what needs attention, coordinate the people involved and carry out suitable practical improvements.
You can bring Bell to Sound in for regular support alongside your marketing leader, or for temporary cover during a gap. Founders and CEOs can also work with us directly when the responsibilities and delivery resources are clear.
Both options are part-time, with support available up to two days per week, subject to agreed availability.
Experience behind the work
Phil is currently working with Manchester Storm to reconcile fan data and implement a lightweight fan CRM, with consent and day-to-day ownership built into the plan.
At OneStock, Phil led the launch of a global website and selected and directed specialist website and paid-media agencies. At Unisys, he led marketing technology priorities and teams, coordinating delivery with specialist vendors.
At Microsoft, Phil held director and senior director roles and worked closely with vice presidents. That experience shapes how he works with leadership teams today: getting clear on priorities, bringing the right people into decisions and helping work move forward.
Let's talk about what you needWhen the work needs someone to lead it
Your team may already be busy. The difficulty is finding time to decide what comes first, give suppliers clear direction and follow through on the work.
This support can help when:
Website or CRM improvements keep slipping behind everyday demands.
Your marketing leader needs someone experienced to lead a defined part of the work.
Teams and agencies have different priorities, and decisions fall between them.
A departure or temporary absence has left a gap.
You need regular senior input but are not ready to make a permanent appointment.
The work is suited to businesses, whether or not they have a marketing team. You need someone who can make decisions and enough internal or external help to carry out the agreed plan.
What Phil can lead and deliver
The work starts with the priorities you need help with. These areas describe the available support, not a package in which everything happens at once.
Digital plans and priorities
Agree what to do first, what can wait and who is responsible. Turn business goals into a plan that fits the people, budget and time available.
Websites, search and content
Decide which website and content changes matter, brief suppliers and review their work. Suitable page and content updates can be included; larger website projects need a separate scope.
CRM and customer follow-up
Improve how marketing and sales use customer information and follow up enquiries. This can include clarifying responsibilities, improving processes and making suitable system changes. The platform and work required are checked before delivery.
Campaigns, teams and agencies
Plan activity, brief agencies and review delivery. Phil can also help set up or improve campaigns where the work fits his skills and the agreed time. Team management and budget responsibilities are agreed at the start.
Marketing tools and reporting
Check whether your current tools and working practices can meet the need before recommending something new. Agree what to measure and use the reporting to decide what should change.
Fractional or interim?
Fractional: regular part-time support
If you need a fractional head of digital marketing, Phil works with your team over an initial three-month engagement. He leads the agreed priorities and stays involved as the work develops.
The starting allocation is four consulting days per calendar month, not one day every week. Meetings, preparation, delivery and follow-up all come out of that allocation.
Interim: temporary part-time cover
If you need cover during an absence or transition, you agree the responsibilities, working days, end date and handover before starting.
Interim cover is also part-time. Both options are limited to two days per week, subject to availability. This is not a full-time replacement service.
Interim work and fractional support above the four-day monthly allocation are quoted separately.
How the work takes shape
Agree the priorities
In the first month, Phil meets the people involved and reviews current activity. Together, you agree a practical 90-day plan, who owns each action and how you will judge progress.
Lead the agreed work
During months two and three, Phil leads selected improvements, carries out suitable practical work and helps resolve decisions that are holding things up. A weekly working session and monthly review with your senior sponsor keep the plan current.
Review and hand over
At the end of the initial period, you review what has changed and whether to continue. If the engagement ends, Phil hands over the work and open decisions within the final allocation.
Shorter interim assignments follow an agreed timetable, with handover planned from the start.
You have working records throughout:
An editable priorities and action plan.
A record of important decisions, risks and dependencies.
A concise monthly progress review.
Briefs and working documents where the work needs them.
A handover of active work and next steps.
These records stay in your shared workspace.
Scope and price
Fractional engagements start from £3,000 per month for four consulting days, with an initial three-month commitment. VAT is additional where applicable.
The starting scope covers one business or defined business unit, with up to three active priorities at a time. That is a limit on work in progress, not a promise to complete three projects each month.
The amount of hands-on work depends on the complexity of those priorities and the time needed to lead them.
Major website builds, CRM migrations, complex integrations and substantial specialist work are separately scoped. If the work needs more time, you agree what to defer or what extra support to commission before the scope expands.
Support is remote-first, with onsite work agreed where useful. Start dates are agreed after an initial conversation.
Talk through what you need
Tell us what needs attention, who is involved and whether you want regular support or temporary cover. The first conversation will establish whether the work and available time are a good fit.
